Draw the Line

Course Outcomes:

bulletManipulates and produces images using computer-based drafting
bulletCommunicates ideas graphically using freehand sketching and drafting techniques.
bulletProduces complex two-dimensional line & symbol images.
bulletUnderstands and produces correct orthographic drawings to engineering standards.
bulletUnderstands and produces correct isometric drawings from orthographic diagrams .
bulletDevelop skills in designing floor, furniture and landscape plans to architectural standards.
bulletApplies architectural standard symbols, graphics and dimensions correctly.
bulletProduced architectural elevations of a simple dwelling.

 

Why do we learn about graphics.

Drawing is another form of communication, (another language), that is easy to translate no matter what type of national language is spoken

 

Graphics is about Communicating Information.

 

You will learn to:-

  1. Complete a ‘crating’ technique to produce some freehand sketches
  2. Learn the basic techniques of drawing using computer-aided technology.
  3. Learn different types of line work by completing line exercises
  4. Complete drawings of complex symbols commonly used in industry
  5. Learn how to dimension drawings to Aust. Standards.
  6. Complete orthogonal drawing……top, front and side views and convert isometric drawings to orthogonal engineering drawings
  7. Convert orthographic drawings into isometric drawings
  8. Complete basic house floor plans & elevations

 

Instructions:-

bulletThis package contains information sheets as well as tasks.
bulletInformation pages and tasks can be accessed via the navigation buttons at the left of the page.
bullet  Most Tasks are completed in class. Some exercises are to be completed at home.
bulletYou must complete the tasks in the following order:-
  1. Line tasks
  2. Orthographic tasks
  3. Pictorial tasks
  4. Architectural tasks
  5. Homework task
bulletThe tasks give you hints on completing the drawings.
They do not give you step-by-step instructions.
Some information sheets will provide step-by-step instructions.
bulletYou will need to be able to ‘jump' between the instruction sheets on Internet Explorer and Turbocad.
bulletYou are expected to read the information sheets and use the information in your drawing.
bulletYou will need an A4 display folder to store completed drawings. After completing a drawing, place it in your display folder for marking.
bullet Monitor your hard disk space and save drawings frequently.
